Concrete slab calculator

Enter the length, width and thickness of your slab. See how much concrete to order.

The slab formula

Cubic feet = length (ft) x width (ft) x thickness (in) / 12. Divide that by 27 for cubic yards. For a 12 x 12 ft slab at 4 inches, that is 48.00 cubic feet, or 1.78 cubic yards.

Thickness changes the total a lot

Every extra inch adds volume across the whole slab. Going from 4 to 6 inches adds half again as much concrete.

Before you order

The numbers here are estimates for planning, not engineering advice. For driveways, garage floors and anything that carries heavy loads, follow local requirements and talk to a contractor. To see the same slab as bags, use the bags of concrete calculator.

Questions people ask

How many bags of concrete for a 10 x 10 slab?

At 4 inches thick with 10% extra, about 62 bags of 80 lb mix or 82 bags of 60 lb mix.
